400gyellow split peas, rinsed
1smoked ham hock
2carrots, diced
2 stalkscelery, diced
1large onion, diced
3 clovesgarlic, minced
2Lchicken stock
2bay leaves
1 tspdried thyme
salt and pepperto taste
Instructions

Place ham hock, peas, vegetables, stock, bay and thyme in a pot.

Bring to a boil. Simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until peas dissolve.

Remove ham hock. Pull meat off. Discard bone.
