3 cupsplain flour
1 tspbaking soda
1 tbspground ginger
1 tspcinnamon
1/2 tspallspice
125gbutter, softened
3/4 cupbrown sugar
1egg
1/2 cupmolasses or golden syrup
2 cupsroyal icing for decoration
Instructions

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and molasses.

Sift in flour, bicarb and spices. Mix to a firm dough.

Chill 30 minutes. Roll to 5mm. Cut shapes.

Bake at 180°C for 10-12 minutes.

Cool completely. Decorate with royal icing.
