1kgred cabbage, finely shredded
2Granny Smith apples, grated
1onion, finely sliced
4 tbspapple cider vinegar
2 tbspsugar
2 tbspvegetable oil
2bay leaves
4cloves
150mlwater

Instructions

Fry onion in oil 5 minutes.

Add cabbage, apple, vinegar, sugar, bay leaves, cloves and water.

Cover and braise on low heat 45–50 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove bay leaves and cloves. Season.

Serve as a side dish — improves the next day.
