800gbeef chuck, cubed
3large onions, diced
3 clovesgarlic
4 tbspsweet Hungarian paprika
1 tspcaraway seeds
400gtinned crushed tomatoes
500mlbeef stock
2potatoes, diced
2carrots, diced
3 tbsplard or oil
sour creamto serve
Instructions

Fry onions in lard until very soft, 15 minutes.

Remove from heat. Add paprika and caraway. Stir.

Add beef. Return to heat. Stir.

Add tomatoes and stock. Braise covered 1.5 hours.

Add potato and carrot. Cook 30 more minutes.

Season.

Serve with sour cream and dumplings or egg noodles.
