Split Pea Soup with Ham
A thick, hearty Canadian split pea soup with chunks of ham and a smoky depth. Simmering the ham hock directly in the pot with the peas for the full 1.5 hours infuses the whole soup with its smoky depth, rather than adding ham as an afterthought.
