1kgGranny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 cupcaster sugar
3 tbspplain flour
1 tspground cinnamon
1/4 tspground nutmeg
1/4 tspsalt
1 tbsplemon juice
2 tbspbutter, diced
1egg, beaten for wash
1 tbspraw sugar for sprinkling
Instructions

Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a 23cm pie dish with one pastry sheet.

Toss apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and lemon juice.

Pile filling into the pie shell. Dot with butter.

Top with second pastry sheet. Trim, crimp and cut steam vents. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with raw sugar.

Bake 45-50 minutes until deep golden. Cool 1 hour before slicing.
