Drain and season the black beans, then stir-fry them over medium-high heat until well browned, about 10 minutes.

Add the tomatoes, onion and cassava, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the garlic, lime juice and palm oil for 3 minutes.

Warm the extra black beans separately as a side.

Let the stew simmer for about 16 minutes so the flavors meld.
