
Easy Kiwi Hangi Pie
A New Zealand-style pie with slow-cooked meat and root vegetables, inspired by hangi flavours in a shortcut pastry form — using leftover slow-cooked meat means most of the work is already done.

1 batch eachshortcrust and puff pastry
500gslow-cooked lamb or pork, shredded
2 cupsroot vegetables, cooked
Instructions

Combine the shredded meat with the cooked root vegetables and just enough gravy to bind everything together without making it too wet.

Line the pie tins with shortcrust pastry and fill generously with the meat mixture.

Top with puff pastry, pressing and trimming the edges to seal.

Cut a small vent in the top of each pie, then bake at 200C for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is puffed and deep golden.
